Radon is a significant public health issue for Milton. Half of all households tested had radon levels higher than EPA recommendations, and one in five households had very high levels. Every household should test for radon, as it is the second highest cause of lung cancers after cigarette smoking. Here is an article with more information (link to attached article) and here is a short webinar with the Director of the state’s Radon program to answer all your questions (link to webinar). Please note that free radon tests are no longer offered by the state health department, but you can order lower-cost reliable radon tests here: https://sosradon.org/purchase-kits
Also note that, if you ordered one from last year and have not used it yet, it should probably still be good for testing this year. To be sure, look at the expiration date or call the phone number on the test kit. For more information, call the states free information line at (800) 723-6695.
